DINGHY STOCK PLANS
|
|||||
Dinghies are a good first project if you have never built a boat before.The smaller plywood ones can go together in a matter of a few weekends, but in that short period you cover a lot of the skills needed to build something larger.The strip plank dinghies will take a little longer, but again much useful experience is learnt which will help when you move onto a more complex project.As a project for the kids to join in, dinghies are ideal. The boat comes together quickly which suits their eagerness to get on with the job. |
Jilly is a 6 foot (1.83m) dinghy, built in 6mm plywood like her bigger sisters, the 2.0m and 2.3m versions. Jilly and the 2.0m dinghy come from two sheets of ply, the 2.3m dinghy uses 2&1/2 sheets of plywood. These boats can be rigged to sail and can carry a small outboard. Respective beam dimensions are 1.17m, 1.25 m and 1.26m. The plans include full size template sheets for transverse members, a sheet with the panel layout and offsets, and a construction/arrangement drawing. $85.00
Another plywood dinghy is the 2.75m double chine design. This is a big load-carrying dinghy, suitable as a tender for a larger yacht or launch. It can be rigged to sail and carry an outboard. Construction is 4mm ply and 200gsm fabric on the exterior. Plans include construction/arrangement, rig layout, and full size templates for mould stations and bulkheads. $110.00
The 3.0m sailing dinghy plans include those above, plus lines and a rig and detailed drawing. $110.00
